The Ohio Historical Society maintains a network of 60 historic sites throughout the state, ranging in focus from prehistoric cultures to former U.S. Presidents to natural history. Your help is needed to maintain and enhance the benefit these local treasures provide to citizens and tourists alike.
Our current fundraising priorities for the historic sites include the following:
The Campaign for Fort Meigs The Campaign for Fort Meigs seeks to secure funding for enhancements and improvements to site facilities, exhibitions and education programming, and to create an endowment to support site operations and collections acquisition and conservation.
W.P. Snyder, Jr. Campaign The W.P. Snyder Jr. Campaign seeks to secure funding for repair and restoration of the towboat W.P. Snyder Jr., the sole remaining ‘pool-type’, steam-powered, sternwheeled towboat in the United States, which is on display at the Ohio River Museum in Marietta. The primary purpose of the restoration project is to return the Snyder to a watertight, structurally safe condition. The W.P. Snyder Jr. Endowment has been established to provide funding for the vessel’s continuing maintenance and upkeep.
