One of the primary focuses of the Ohio Historical Society's mission has always been to provide a strong foundation of history education to
Ohio's schoolchildren. The Society continues to develop unique, cutting-edge educational programs, provide a wealth of history and social
studies curriculum resources for teachers, and partner with local corporations to sponsor museum field trips for children in lower-income
school districts.
With your help, OHS can continue to be a national leader in history education. Currently, our greatest education funding needs include
the following:

Ohio History Central
Ohio History Central is the Ohio Historical Society's free online, interactive
encyclopedia of Ohio history. The website contains over 3,000 entries about Ohio's natural history, prehistory, history, and state symbols.
In addition to the main text entries, the site features nearly 2,000 images, plus numerous audio and video files. As the most comprehensive

History Day
National History Day in Ohio (NHD-OH) is a year-long social studies education project for students in grades 4 through 12, focused on
primary source materials, research skills, and inquiry-based learning. NHD-OH’s mission is to transform history education in the classroom.
The dates and historic figures featured in textbooks do not provide an accessible link to the past, especially for today's students who are
immersed in the technologies and innovations of contemporary society. The goal of NHD-OH is to increase access to history by offering all of
Ohio's students the opportunity to participate in a project-based history competition where their work - in the form of a paper, exhibit,
documentary or dramatic performance - is subjected to critical analysis and public recognition.
