Series Title: Record of examinations of applications for loans of the safety fund, l855-l863

Description: The Board of Control maintained a record of examinations of applications by branch banks for loans from the safety fund. The safety fund, collected primarily from branch bansk, functioned for the redemption of notes in circulation from branches that became insolvent. Entries in the record include: the borrower's name; the borrower's attorney's name, if applicable; the loan application date; branch involved; loan amount; and a statement from the Board of Control on whether the loan application was approved, disapproved, or postponed.
