Series Title: Abstract of the rates of taxation, 1969-1981, 1982-1984
Description: The Division of Tax Equalization directs county auditors in the assessment of real and personal property. As part of this task, the division annually receives from each county auditor an abstract of the rates of taxation for each taxing district within their county (Division of Tax Equalization Form 27). Each abstract includes detailed listings of tax rates, in mills, for school and joint vocational school districts, library districts, townships, and municipalities. Entries also list the tax rates, in mills, for all government authorized or voter approved tax and bond levies outside the ten mill limitation including: mental health and mental retardation; county hospital; capital improvement; port authority; road, sewer, water, or sanitation district; police, fire, or emergency service; and school, joint vocational school, and library district programs among others.
4 vols. and 10 bundles. Contents of the volumes and bundles remain in the order as they were received from the Division of Tax Equalization. Abstracts from 1969 to 1979 are wrapped in bundles by year. Abstracts from 1980 and 1981 are bound into volumes. Within each bundle or volume, the abstracts are arranged alphabetically by county name. Entries in each abstract are by types of taxing district. These include: municipalities; townships; villages; schools; vocational schools; libraries; or special districts. The taxing districts may or may not be listed in alphabetical order in the abstract.
