Since its founding in 1959, the Ohio Association of Historical Societies and Museums (OAHSM) has worked closely with the Ohio Historical Society (OHS). Both organizations share a common goal to encourage the preservation and the presentation of Ohio's heritage. Though separate organizations, they are joined by this common purpose and by the belief that through affiliation the two groups can be more effective in meeting their goals.
To that end, the staff of the OHS Local History Office administers and coordinates all OAHSM programs. OAHSM, through its twenty-three person board of trustees, provides general direction and oversight for those programs. It also serves as the nucleus of a network of organizations and individuals interested in all aspects of local history in Ohio.
Location
The Ohio Historical Center complex is within 10 minutes driving time of downtown Columbus at the intersection of Interstate 71 and 17th Avenue.
