Navigating the Slide Shows

The main Online Workshop page lists the nine slide series that are currently available. Next to each slide series title is an icon that, by clicking on it, will take you to the index page for that particular slide series.

Each slide series listed on the main Online Workshop page has its own index page listing the contents on the individual slides contained in that series. You may access the slides in one of two ways.

• Click on the "Click Here to Start" link. This will take you to the first slide in the series. From here you may use the navigation buttons under the slide to move throughout the slide series (see below).
• Click on the link in the index for the individual slide that you are interested in viewing.
• The slides are not timed to change on their own. This allows you, the user, to view only the slides that you wish to and to spend as much or as little time as needed on each slide.

Each slide series index page also includes LGRP contact information, a link to the main Online Workshop page, and a link to the downloadable Microsoft 97 PowerPoint version of the slide series. Under each individual slide is a series of navigation buttons.

• The double left triangle takes the screen back to the first slide in the series.
• The single left triangle takes the screen back to the previous slide.
• The single right triangle advances the screen one slide.
• The double right arrow takes the screen to the last slide in the series.
• The i in a circle takes the screen back to the slide series index page.
• The house takes the screen back to the LGRP homepage.
• The A takes the screen to a text-only version of the slide.

There is a link from each individual series page to the main Online Workshop index page.

Voice Narrations

A sound file (.wav) is linked to each individual slide. You may listen to the sound file by clicking on the "Click for Narration" link above each slide. A few of the introduction slides to each slide series do not contain narration. In such a case, the narration link has been omitted. When a sound file has finished running, you must close the application box that was running the file. When using Microsoft Internet Explorer, you will have to click on the "play (triangle) button" to start the narration. Netscape Navigator will start the sound file automatically when you click the narration link.

Linking the sound to each individual slide allows you, the user, to skip the sound altogether or to play any slide multiple times without having to run through the entire series.

Transcripts will be available shortly for those who request them. Transcripts will be made available by email in a Microsoft Word attachment. Please email localrecs@ohiohistory.org or call 1-800-510-8676 to request a transcript. Be sure to specify the series for which you are requesting the transcript.

Downloading the Microsoft 97 PowerPoint Versions

Each slide presentation is also available in its original Microsoft 97 PowerPoint format. There is a link at the bottom of each series index page that will allow you download the presentations, provided that you have the proper Microsoft PowerPoint software. These presentations do not include the voice narration.
