Search the "Primary
Resources for Teachers" database
Search by
Title, Subject, Curriculum Category, and Appropriate
Grade (k-12) in this database of primary
source material, a collaborative effort of
OHS' Archives/Library
and Educational Services
Divisions. Currently, all the material consists
of pamphlets, but in the future it will include
documents from the State
Archives, and sample lesson plans.
Subjects:
Subjects represented at present
are Alcohol, Catalogs, Civil War, Criminals,
Kids/Education, Labor, Medical, Native American,
Ohio History, Personal History, Political, Religion,
Songbooks, Souvenirs, Transportaion, Underground
Railroad/Slavery, and Women. Curriculum Categories
represented at present are Government and History.
Originals:
The
pamphlets, the majority of which date from the
19th century, come from the Pamphlet Collection
of the Archives/Library, and the originals may
be viewed in the Research Room. However, most are fragile and in poor
condition-- often the digitized images are clearer/cleaner.
Viewing/Printing:
The
pamphlets may be viewed and printed in low (72dpi
.gif) and high (400dpi .tif) resolution file
formats. Low resolution images are the default,
as all graphical Web browsers are able to display
.gif images. Found below the displayed page

.tif image-- current Web browser software cannot
view .tif images without a plugin or helper
application. The Library
of Congress/American Memory website has
directions for viewing .tif images.
